1. Idea / Research Project

Save time and avoid missing a highly relevant research project.

Scouting for good projects to supplement pipeline or to open a new business area is a time consuming process.

MediTeam has a strong network in the research and biotech communities in Scandinavia and can quickly identify a project or business candidate. Working with us will therefore save you time and hassles.

MediTeam identifies Life Science projects quickly and accurately within:

  • A specific therapeutic area
  • A specific technology
  • As a supplement to pipeline
  • An overview of interesting and relevant research

2. Market Analysis

After presentation of a potential candidate, we can assist with the screening process. The natural first step is a thorough market analysis, which provides a good basis for future decisions.

We know the Life Science area well and have contacts throughout the world. Therefore, we can supplement data base searches with interviews of key players in all therapeutic fields to get their view on potential needs, price etc.

If you are looking for a company to buy, we analyse the entire portfolio and also personnel resources.

Based on the data collected, we provide you with a report that provides a good initial decisions base.

MediTeam provides professional assistance with:

  • Quick and thorough market analyses
  • Based on
    - Excellent knowledge of the entire Life Science area
    - Good contacts throughout the world
    - Relevant interviews with key opinion leaders

3. FtO-analysis

If the market analysis shows that the project candidate has potential, a FtO-analysis (Freedom to Operate-analysis) will provide an overview of the possibilities for exploring existing and future patents.

MediTeam has via network co-operations access to all relevant data bases and can perform a quick and qualified FtO-analysis for any Life Science project, employing:

  • Experts with scientific degrees within almost all Life Science fields
  • In-depth understanding of the technology and the field
  • Continued close contacts to the research community and knowledge of new developments

4. Patenting

Of course we ensure that the project or business portfolio are covered by existing
patent(s), but the market and FtO analyses may show that additional patents can be filed.

In this case, we can take care of the entire patent process and maintain continuous contact with the research team and the patent agency.

MediTeam co-operates with a number of patent agencies who specialise in Life Science and can therefore choose the right one in each case.

Mediteam keeps track of the entire process and ensures that:

  • An optimal application is written and filed quickly
  • The patent has the best possible coverage and the costs are as low as possible
  • A good, continuous communication takes place between the patent agency and the research team

5. Project Strategy

If the previous analyses have shown that a business candidate still has potential, the natural next step is the Due Diligence process at the site of the potential purchasing company.

However, for research projects at public institutions, it can be advantageous to decide on the future development strategy prior to signing the deal. This also helps when deciding what type of deal to choose.

It is imperative to know the exact developmental stage and the time to ”proof-of-technology” but it is almost equally important to know the competences of the research team, what motivates them etc.

If a strong team is in place, the possibilities of continuing research entirely or in part in the same environment may give the best results and should be explored.

We co-operate with experts in the pre-clinical, clinical and regulatory fields and can help determine the easiest way through the system. If the need to use a CRO arises, we have good contacts to local companies.

MediTeam can help decide the optimal strategy, based on:

  • In-depth understanding of the technology and the real developmental stage of a project
  • Good knowledge of what motivates researchers and how to evaluate the competences of the team
  • In-depth understanding of the pre-clinical, clinical and regulatory fields
  • Good contacts to local CROs

6. License Contract

The researchers rarely have a very clear concept about getting the best possible deal. However, Tech Trans offices usually have definite rules about which type of deals they will accept, and these rules vary not only from country to country, but also between universities.

Therefore, negotiations with a research institution can be a long process that requires continual contact to ensure sufficient momentum. A good communication and a deal that is satisfactory to all parties are more easily achieved if a local contact person is available to keep track of all the details.

So save time and money by letting us take care of the negotiations.

MediTeam can take responsibility for negotiations based on:

  • A large network and a good reputation within the research community
  • In-depth understanding of the technology and the field as well as the motivation of Tech Trans employees and researchers
  • Experienced negotiators with good track records

7. Project Management

Once the agreement has been signed, the real work starts. Whether it is a standard license contract or a joint development contract, if momentum is not ensured the project will grind to a halt. The best outcome requires continuous contact and knowledge sharing.

Project Management is an important, but time consuming task, which is often neglected. A dedicated project manager looks after all the practical details, and ensures a positive dialogue between the partners. Researchers as well as company employees are very busy, which makes it difficult to find the necessary resources for project management. Unfortunately this causes a less than optimal path for many projects.

An external project manager allows researchers time and peace to concentrate on research, and the company employees’ time and peace to do other important tasks.

MediTeam offers project management of any licensing contract:

  • Extensive experience in management of complex projects
  • In-depth knowledge of and experiences with research and business
  • Fast elimination of misunderstandings based on knowledge of both ”languages”
